  1. (verb) To cast an actor in the same kind of role repeatedly.
  2. (verb) To identify someone as being of a specific type because of their appearance, colour, religion etc.
  3. (verb) (computing, programming languages) Changing an entity (a variable or an object) of one datatype into another. In other words, typecasting allows you to take a value that belongs to one type and "cast" it into another type. See also: type conversion.
